Club Technoczar of the School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics- D Y Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai in collaboration with REDX brings together technical experts, innovators, researchers, and corporate partners that will help to provide sustainable solutions in areas of healthcare, food, environment and therapeutics.
Club Technoczar serves as a gateway to the energy and creativity of young innovators who are attempting to solve societal problems in the simplest manner possible.
In collaboration with our expert researchers, bright young innovators will incubate their ideas and finally get an opportunity to scale up their ideas to final products.
The School was established in June 2003, with a vision of strengthening and broadening the base of Biotechnology in India.
The mission of the school is to train human resource for entrepreneurial initiatives in Biotechnology and allied areas so as to make them not just job seekers but also job creators. The School headed by Prof. Debjani Dasgupta is a prominent 12-storeyed landmark structure with a built up area of 64,000 sq. feet housing 14 state of the art laboratories and 20 lecture halls augmented with sophisticated audio-visual aids. The School is supported by more than 50 highly qualified faculties who endeavor to provide world class education to students.
The School has well established labs to carry out research and development in the areas of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering and Food Science and technology.
Biotechnology labs are equipped with state of art indigenous and imported analytical instruments like Sorval C90 Ultra Centrifuge, Waters Gradient High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Chemito Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), Chemito Gas Chromatography (GC), Super Hit Rotary Vacuum Digital Bath, Bio-Rad Microplate reader, UV Visible Spectrophotometer, Bio-Rad Biological Duo Flow System, Promega DNA/RNA/Protein Isolation System, Syngene Gel Documentation Unit, Therrmocycler and other equipments such as Microprocessor based Cold Chamber, Deep Freezer (-80 ℃, -20 ℃), Laminar Flow, Ultra filtration unit etc.
The school also houses a well established Plant tissue culture and Animal tissue culture facility.
The Bioinformatics laboratory has more than 150 terminals with licensed software including MATLAB, Microsoft academia license, Bioinformatics openwares and uninterrupted power backup and 30 Mbps internet bandwidth.
The Biomedical Engineering laboratory includes facilities for biomedical measurements and recording systems, microprocessor and therapeutic equipments; and laboratories for electric and electronic circuits, logic circuits, analog integrated circuits, human anatomy studies, biochemistry and computer programming.
The school also has a well equipped food science laboratory with spectrophotometer, spray dryers, ovens, soxhlet apparatus, muffle furnace, food processor etc.
